Teacher Earth Science Education Programme (TESEP) are running a series of teacher PD workshops hosted by Quantum Victoria.
The TESEP Challenging Earth series of Professional Development workshops is designed to provide:
Easy to understand explanations of topical issues
Access to useful resources from existing sources
New resources that assist you in the classroom
Ideas for field trips
Access to teachers experienced in this field
To register for a workshop, please download the flyer under your workshop of choice, complete the form on page 2 and email to officemanager@asta.edu.au.
Upcoming dates for 2024
This date has been cancelled.
Rocks for the Classroom: The TESEP Australian Rock Kit with rock stories and 3D renders.
(Curriculum VSSU102, VSSU089)
Plate Tectonics: Integrated story of rocks in the Plate Tectonics context - understanding key active/passive regions of the Earth through the Zoom-around the TESEP Plate Tectonics integrated poster - cities/networks of power-water-fuel/sustainable land use/marine parks/water cycle - how we use GPS & explore for critical minerals.
(Curriculum VSSU114, VSSU127)
Audience: Years 4-8 Geography, Junior Science
Energy & the Energy Transition: All energy types compared and contrasted (with short videos) in a short summary, then discussion/compare-contrast of different Paths to Net Zero (latest statistics, plans, location/size/type).
(Curriculum VSSU100, 115, 116, 122, 127, 089)
Audience: Years 9-12 STEM, Physics, Chemistry
Life, Fossils & the 5 Big Extinctions: From first life through life struggles at 5 Big Extinctions, fauna/flora fossils (of Australia) are discussed in the context of integrated plate tectonics context, climate, volcanic events & recovery of life at each event.
(Curriculum VSSU128, VSSU089)
Audience: Years 9-12 Biology
Riding the Climate Rollercoaster: The latest compilation of statistics/graphs of climate through geologic time, with short videos & discussion of climate drivers & tipping points.
(Curriculum VSSU128, VSSU116, VSSU089)
Audience: Years 9-12 Geography, Biology
Critical Minerals & Renewable Energy: What is a critical mineral? Why are critical minerals key to the latest technologies in renewable energy transition (electric car-focus), Space, Medical & Smart technology, exploring & mining for rare earth minerals, recycling critical minerals (battery-focus).
