Exploring the Senses
Students will undertake a series of activities as they investigate the following senses:
Taste
Touch
Hearing
Sight
Smell
Exploring the Senses is available through the following program types. Select a program type to view more information.
On-Site at Quantum Victoria
Students will use ALL 5 senses including taste and smell during their investigations to gain and understanding of the role the that senses play in everyday life.
Please inform us if any students have allergies upon booking confirmation.
An extension module complementing the onsite program is available for you to download. This module consists of a student workbook and teacher resource book with solutions.
Asynchronous (Self Delivery)
This module will provide a range of activities, games, experiments, resources and ideas you can use with your students to further their knowledge of the five senses. Students will explore how animals use their senses and how they differ from humans. Please use your judgment in selecting activities for your cohort.
Activity 1 – Eyesight chart to experience how vision is tested and data collection (1 hour)
Activity 2 – Predator vs. Prey eyes - sorting and similarities and differences (1.5 hours)
Activity 3 – Echolocation activity ideas (2 hours)
Activity 4 – Touch - how animals use their limbs to touch and feel (1.5 hours)
Activity 5 – Taste experiment to learn how important smell is for taste (1.5 hours)
